Lucenus ("Lucenus," "we," "us," or "our") operates a platform that connects individuals willing to share spare computing capacity from their personal devices ("Hosts") with businesses that need distributed computing power to train artificial intelligence models ("Enterprise Customers"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you use our website, desktop application, and related services (together, the "Service").
Please read this Policy alongside our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.
1. Scope & who we are
This Policy applies to everyone who visits our website, creates an account, installs our desktop application, hosts compute capacity, or submits training jobs through the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to but do not control.
The entity responsible for your information is [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY NAME AND ADDRESS], which you can reach using the details in Section 13.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information
- Name, email address, and password (or authentication token if you sign in with Google) when you create an account.
- Account type (Individual Host or Enterprise Customer) and, for Enterprise Customers, company name and work contact details.
2.2 Host device & activity information
If you host compute capacity, we collect information about your device and its contribution to the network so jobs can be matched and you can be paid correctly:
- Hardware characteristics: CPU model and core count, total RAM, GPU model and available video memory, and an overall capacity score we calculate from these values.
- Network and session data: IP address, approximate location derived from IP, online/offline status, and session timestamps.
- Job activity: which compute jobs your device contributed to, how many compute units you completed, and the resulting earnings.
2.3 Enterprise Customer & job information
- Billing contact information and company details.
- Files you upload for training jobs, along with job configuration (intensity level, estimated compute units, and job status).
- Usage history, including job progress and which Hosts contributed to a given job (identified to you only by an anonymized host label, not personal details of the Host).
2.4 Payment information
We use a third-party payment processor to handle billing (for Enterprise Customers) and payouts (for Hosts). We do not store full payment card numbers or bank account credentials ourselves — our payment processor handles that data under its own privacy and security practices. We do retain records of transaction amounts, dates, and status for accounting, tax, and support purposes.
2.5 Information collected automatically
- Log data such as browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps.
- Locally stored data used to keep the desktop application and website functioning (for example, remembering that you are signed in). We do not use this data to track you across unrelated third-party websites.
3. How we use information
- To create and administer your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
- To operate the Service's core function: matching Enterprise Customer jobs with available Host capacity, tracking job progress, and calculating Host earnings and Enterprise Customer charges.
- To process payments and payouts, including any tax reporting we are legally required to perform (see Section 6 of our Terms of Service).
- To communicate with you about your account, job status, payouts, security notices, and — where you have not opted out — product updates.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service, including hosts misrepresenting device capacity or interfering with job execution.
- To improve and maintain the reliability of the Service, including diagnosing technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We use third parties to provide infrastructure critical to the Service, including authentication, database, and file storage (currently Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform) and payment processing. These providers can access only the information needed to perform their function and are contractually restricted from using it for other purposes.
- Between Hosts and Enterprise Customers, in limited form. A Host's device contributes computation to Enterprise Customer jobs, but Hosts are not given access to the content of an Enterprise Customer's uploaded files beyond what is technically necessary to execute the assigned computation. Enterprise Customers see only an anonymized identifier for contributing Hosts, not their name, email, or device details.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lucenus, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If Lucenus is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- With your consent. For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection, with your consent.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After account closure, we retain certain records — such as transaction, payout, and tax-relevant data — for the period required by applicable tax and financial recordkeeping laws (typically several years), after which it is deleted or anonymized. Uploaded training files are retained only for as long as needed to complete the associated job, plus a limited period afterward for support purposes, unless you request earlier deletion in accordance with Section 7.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encryption in transit and access controls on our databases. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements described in Section 5.
- Portability — request your information in a portable format, where applicable.
- Objection / opt-out — object to certain processing, or opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
Residents of the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland: you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent UK law, and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents: you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
8. International data transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process and store information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect information transferred internationally.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
10. Cookies & tracking technologies
Our website uses essential cookies and locally stored data required for core functionality, such as keeping you signed in. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this Policy and provide any consent mechanism required by applicable law.
11. Third-party services
The Service may contain links to or integrate with third-party services (for example, Google Sign-In or our payment processor). Those services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
